Dewey Plant - Mechanical Technician
POSITION OVERVIEW
Milliken's Dewey Plant in Inman, SC is seeking a qualified individual to join its manufacturing team as a Mechanical Technician. This position creates value by ensuring reliability of equipment to help meet and exceed the facility's goals for quality and production by inspecting, troubleshooting, and diagnosing mechanical problems on all manufacturing equipment in accordance with plant policies and procedures. This will primarily be a rotating shift position that will include an on-call rotation.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Basic Responsibilities for Mechanic:
Perform maintenance and repairs on equipment, tools, machines, and buildings.
Analyze and solve mechanical problems and assist manufacturing personnel on process-related problems.
Performs preventative maintenance and establishes new PM activities as needed
Involvement in installation of machinery, machine moves and plant rearrangements.
Understands, follows, and implements all safety-related standards and practices.
Document all work in a CMMS with feedback to planning and scheduling.
Basic Responsibilities for Advanced and Senior Mechanic:

Continuous process improvement implementation with respect to Lean Manufacturing principles.
Basic Responsibilities for Senior Mechanic:

Train other Engineering Services associates, in one-on-one or group environments as needed.
Work directly with Planning & Scheduling team to assist in creation and improvement of job plans.
Lead small teams on complex maintenance and repair activities.
QUALIFICATIONS - REQUIRED
Basic Qualifications for Mechanic
High School Diploma or GED
One of the following:
Associate or Technical degree or higher in Mechatronix, Mechanical Engineering, Automation Engineering, or similar
A minimum of two (2) years of mechanical and industrial equipment maintenance, repair, and troubleshooting experience in a manufacturing, industrial, military or production environment
Experience with Microsoft Office suite applications, creating and editing Word documents and Excel spreadsheets.
Willing and able to work overtime, weekends, on-call, and holidays.
Experience reading and following control scheme, electrical and maintenance schematics/blueprints.
Willing and able to work at heights, in confined spaces, and in hot or cold weather conditions.
Willing and able to perform tasks such as lifting, walking, climbing, stooping, standing, pushing and/or pulling for up to 12 hours a day.
Willing and able to lift-up to 50 lbs.
Willing and able to follow facial hair guidelines for respirator usage.
Understanding of working knowledge of a wide range of industrial equipment, including pumps, bearings, mechanical seals, steam traps, steam heaters, safety relief devices, agitators, conveyers, air compressors, HVAC systems, heat exchangers, cooling towers, fire protection systems, and industrial scales
Proficiency in reading and understanding of blueprints, P&ID and equipment specification documents.
Basic proficiency in aerial lifts, rigging, and hoists; to include hoist maintenance and inspection.
Basic Qualifications for Advanced and Senior Mechanic

One of the following:
Associate or Technical degree or higher in Mechatronix, Mechanical Engineering, Automation Engineering, or similar
A minimum of three (3) years of mechanical and industrial equipment maintenance, repair, and troubleshooting experience in a manufacturing, industrial, military or production environment
OSHA 10-hour for General Industry
NFPA 70E certified.
Proficiency with machinery alignment, including laser alignment.
Proficiency with vibration analysis and machinery lubrication analysis and handling
Basic Qualifications for Senior Mechanic
(all the above plus additional listings)
One of the following:
Associate or Technical degree or higher in Mechatronix, Mechanical Engineering, Automation Engineering, or similar
A minimum of five (5) years of mechanical and industrial equipment maintenance, repair, and troubleshooting experience in chemical manufacturing or similar industrial environment.
OSHA 30-hour for General Industry
Entry Level Vibration Analysis (ISO Category I) and Analysis I (ISO Category II) certified.
Thermography (ISO Level I) certified.
QUALIFICATIONS - PREFERRED
Preferred Qualifications for Mechanic
Experience using a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS)
OSHA 10-hour for General Industry
NFPA 70E certified.
Proficiency with machinery alignment, including laser alignment.
Entry Level Vibration Analysis (ISO Level I) certified.
Proficiency with ultrasonic analysis, for use with greasing applications, and leak detection
Proficiency with oil analysis, understanding of machinery lubrication, and lubrication oil handling requirements.
Understanding of PSM/IPL Fundamentals
Previous experience in Energy, Chemical, or pharmaceutical production environment
Preferred Qualifications for Advanced and Senior Mechanic

High level of proficiency with machinery alignment, including laser alignment
Strong understanding of Reliability Centered Maintenance Concepts
Entry Level Vibration Analysis (ISO Category I) and Analysis I (ISO Category II) certified.

Preferred Qualifications for Senior Mechanic

Certified Maintenance and Reliability Technician (CMRT)
API 510 Vessel Inspection certified.
