Portable Tie 2nd Shift Operator

Primary Duties: Prepare the loom to receive a new warp, exchange the old beam for a new warp, tie old and new ends together, pull over new warp, and put loom back into production.

Tools Required: Knotex warp tying machine and frame, 10mm allen wrench, scissors, red hook, brush, extension cord, cloth doffing knife, hoist, beam truck, grease gun, oil can, lease blocks, lease rods, clamps, green cloth pen, cross-over hook, goggles/safety glasses, tugger with cloth trailer, dust mask, utility knife, cut resistant glove, OSHA approved air nozzle for compressed air, ear plugs, and brooms.

Materials Used: Warp yarns, filling yarns, and tie threads.

Supervision Exercised: None; receives instructions from Supervisor or Lead Person.

Job Procedures:

1. Follow all established Plant Safety rules.

2. Check the Warp-Out Board, record start time and go to the loom that has been standing for the longest period of time, unless instructed otherwise by management.

3. Lease out the current pattern on the loom.

4. Cut the yarn sheet below the lease rods and remove all yarn from the old beam.

5. Remove the old beam from the loom.

6. Blow off the loom, sweep up excessive lint.

7. Transport the empty beam to the designated storage area.

8. Select the correct new full warp from the warp storage area and move it to the loom being changed.

9. Grease and oil the loom as required.

10. Place the new warp into the loom.

11. Push the Tie-In Machine and Frame to the loom, attach tie-in equipment to the loom, and align the old and new yarn sheets.

12. Tie on the new warp. Inspect the quality of the tying process for errors. Make any corrections needed.

13. Disassemble Tie-In Machine and Frame from the loom, return Tie-In Machine, Frame, and empty beam truck to designated staging areas.

14. Pull over the new warp.

15. Put Seam in Roll if it is not ready to be doffed.

16. Start loom and inspect for any defects before placing loom back into production.

17. Doff cloth rolls from Warp-Outs and regular production looms, identify roll with required information, place Cloth Inspection Form with the roll, and take cloth roll to storage area.

18. Bag all yarn waste that was removed from the old and new beam; take waste to the designated storage area.

19. Load selvage trim or yarn waste into the correct yarn warehouse balers.

20. Maintain housekeeping and organization of materials in the work area.

21. Advise management of any items that need attention to keep tie-in equipment operating properly.

22. Perform all other duties as directed by management.

Minimum Job Requirements: Must be able to read and write. Cannot be color blind. Must have basic math skills. Must be cleared by Occupational Nurse for vision and color vision. Must be able to operate Powered Industrial Vehicles.

Follow all Safety Rules and comply with the Job Safety & Health Analysis (JSHA). All Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) must be used as required. Any accident or near miss must be reported immediately.
