Your Role
The EHS Specialist will assist in developing and implementing safety and security programs, projects and procedures to prevent or correct unsafe working conditions and to improve health & safety performance, improve regulatory compliance position, improve processes and minimize liability, using knowledge of industrial processes, mechanics, chemistry, psychology, and industrial health and safety laws. Responsibilities include the following:
- Support site operations by participating in safety investigations
- Serve as Safety representative for Pro 1, 2, 3 and Lab Building
- Manage Incident Commander(IC) coverage for upcoming week
- Respond to Emergency Calls from IC and further communicate to site leadership team.
- Support operations by participating in Risk Assessments
- Perform walkthroughs of the operations and report findings with MySite
- Connect formally and informally with operators, supervisors, and managers to discuss safety topics
- Present in department meetings on safety related topics
- Support PHA/HazOp reviews
Who You Are
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Environmental Science, Chemistry or other life science discipline
- 4 years of EHS work experience
Preferred Qualifications:
- 5 years of EHS compliance experience in the chemical, specialty chemical or pharmaceutical industry
- Master’s degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Industrial Hygiene or Environmental Engineering
- Certified Industrial Hygienist (American Board of Certified Industrial Hygienist) or Certified Safety Professional (Board of Certified Safety Professionals) or comparable certifying organization within the hiring country/region
- Ability to productively and collaboratively foster management and employee participation
- Excellent communication and organization skills
- Excellent computer skills
