Job Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Die Casting Process Engineer to oversee and drive the successful launch of new die casting processes within our manufacturing operations. The ideal candidate will leverage their expertise to optimize die casting processes, ensure quality standards, and meet production goals. This role plays a critical part in the design, implementation, and continuous improvement of new processes.
Key Responsibilities
Process Development and Launch :
Lead the development and implementation of new die casting processes for product launches, ensuring on-time delivery and quality targets are met.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including design, tooling, quality, and production, to define process parameters and validate new tooling designs.
Conduct trials and first-off runs to establish robust, repeatable processes.
Optimize cycle times, cooling strategies, and material flow to maximize efficiency.
Process Improvement :
Identify opportunities for process enhancements and cost reductions in tooling, materials, and energy use.
Analyze production data to troubleshoot and resolve process issues, ensuring consistent product quality.
Drive continuous improvement initiatives, applying lean manufacturing and Six Sigma methodologies.
Quality Assurance :
Define and monitor critical process parameters to ensure compliance with customer and internal specifications.
Work closely with the quality team to develop inspection and testing protocols.
Implement corrective and preventive actions for process-related defects.
Technical Support :
Provide technical expertise and support to production teams for troubleshooting and maintenance.
Train operators and technicians on die casting processes, equipment operation, and safety protocols.
Stay updated on the latest advancements in die casting technologies and integrate them into company operations.
Qualifications
Education and Experience :
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science, or a related field.
Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in die casting process engineering, preferably in new process launches.
Technical Skills :
Strong understanding of die casting equipment, tooling, and materials (e.g., aluminum, magnesium, or zinc).
Knowledge of statistical process control (SPC) and manufacturing quality systems (e.g., ISO 9001 / IATF 16949).
Experience with lean manufacturing, Six Sigma methodologies, or equivalent process improvement tools.
Soft Skills :
Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and critical-thinking skills.
Strong communication and teamwork abilities.
Ability to manage multiple projects and meet tight deadlines.
