Position Overview:
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented individual for the role of Hybrid Express
Foreman / Part-Time Service Writer. This unique position combines supervisory
responsibilities with service writing duties to ensure the smooth and efficient operation
of our express service department. The ideal candidate will be responsible for
overseeing and monitoring the work of express technicians, maintaining quality control,
managing tool organization, and inventory. Additionally, the person will serve as a
service writer on a rotating Saturday schedule or as needed to cover for sick days or
vacations.
Key Responsibilities:
Express Foreman Responsibilities:
- Supervise and monitor the daily activities of express technicians to ensure timely
and accurate completion of tasks.
- Conduct quality control checks to maintain the highest standards of service.
- Ensure the proper organization and cleanliness of tools, equipment, and work areas.
- Oversee inventory management and tool maintenance, ensuring that all necessary supplies are on hand and in good condition.
- Assist in training and developing express technicians to improve performance and efficiency.
- Ensure that all work is completed in accordance with company policies and safety standards.
- Provide ongoing feedback to technicians and address any performance or procedural issues.
- Report any concerns regarding inventory, tools, or technician performance to management.
Service Writer Responsibilities:
- Serve as a service writer on a rotating Saturday schedule and provide coverage when other team members are sick or on vacation.
- Greet customers, understand their service needs, and create accurate work orders.
- Communicate effectively with technicians, ensuring clear understanding of service needs and customer requests.
- Provide timely updates to customers regarding the status of their vehicle and any additional services required.
- Manage service appointments and ensure efficient scheduling of vehicles.
- Maintain accurate records of customer interactions, work orders, and service history.
- Assist customers in understanding service recommendations and pricing.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent; automotive service-related certifications or training preferred.
- Previous experience in an automotive service environment, preferably with a focus on express service or technician supervision.
- Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail.
- Strong leadership and interpersonal skills to effectively supervise and motivate technicians.
- Ability to work under pressure and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Comfortable using automotive service software and point-of-sale systems.
- Availability to work on rotating Saturdays and occasional coverage for absences.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to stand, walk, and move around a service shop for extended periods.
- Ability to lift and carry items up to 30 pounds.
- Occasional exposure to loud noises, vehicle fumes, and other typical service shop conditions.
Compensation:
Competitive salary based on experience. Benefits may be available depending on
employment status and tenure.
