Shipfitter

Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled Shipfitter to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for assembling, fabricating, and installing structural components on various maritime vessels. This role requires a strong understanding of shipbuilding processes and the ability to work with various materials and tools. The Shipfitter will play a crucial role in ensuring that all components meet quality standards and specifications.

Duties

• Assemble and install metal structures and components for ships, ensuring precise alignment and fit.
• Fabricate parts using hand tools, power tools, and sheet metal techniques.
• Utilize welding skills to join metal components securely.
• Conduct vehicle maintenance on equipment used in shipbuilding.
• Employ an ohmmeter to test electrical connections and ensure proper functionality.
• Rig materials and equipment as necessary for lifting and positioning during assembly.
• Collaborate with other tradespeople to ensure efficient workflow and project completion.
• Maintain a clean and safe work environment by adhering to safety protocols.

Experience

• Proven experience as a Shipfitter or in a similar role within the maritime industry is preferred.
• Familiarity with hand tools, power tools, welding techniques, and sheet metal fabrication is essential.
• Experience in vehicle maintenance is a plus.
• Ability to read blueprints, technical drawings, and specifications accurately.
• Strong attention to detail with a commitment to quality workmanship.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently or as part of a team.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $30.00 - $32.00 per hour
