What are the responsibilities and job description for the Construction Superintendent position at Millstone Management Group?
Responsibilities include managing and performing all aspects of supervision from a combination office/field level. The field superintendent position plays an integral role in the construction phase of projects and is the project lead during construction. The superintendent is responsible for further developing and documenting department standards and procedures, quality control and quality assurance, field coordination, and scheduling. An important role is Client Development; this includes building effective relationships with suppliers, external clients, subcontractors, and internal team members to guarantee work performed meets or exceeds client expectations. Field Superintendent includes responsibility for the majority of the “public face” of the organization ranging from apparel to client interaction and ongoing relationship maintenance.
Field Superintendent Responsibilities:
- Review and become acquainted with preconstruction preparation for projects
- Create applicable materials lists and perform quantity take-offs from blueprints and field conditions
- Order and procure materials
- Review and provide input on job schedules
- Determine critical path items for scheduling and project reporting
- Review subcontractor contracts and scopes
- Lead communications with the internal and external project team and resources successfully
- Review submittals for technical data
- Utilization of various project management applications inclusive of changing technologies
- Determination of resource allocation associated with not only subcontractor resources but direct labor needs
- Resource coding and labor tracking
- Establish full scope of change orders and technical deviation from construction drawings
- Formulate and communicate Requests For Information to owners, architects and engineers
- Provide and establish adequate information for pricing of change orders and change directives
- Review job sites and conditions for adherence to OSHA compliance, Millstone compliance and compliance of local authorities
- Quality assurance and quality control
- Emergency preparedness and response
- Project reporting and progress meetings with both subcontractors and owners
- Weekly reporting
- Document field conditions and changes for verification on As-Built drawings

- Construction Site Management and Construction Safety skills
- Strong Organization Skills
- Excellent communication and leadership skills
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
- Experience with construction software and technology is a plus
- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management or related field is a plus
