Millstone Medical Outsourcing is looking for an energetic individual to join its Operations team. Millstone is a fast growing, fast paced medical service provider for the top Orthopedic companies in the industry.
Millstone’s business focus is sterile and non-sterile packaging of medical devices. Millstone also engages in other activities, such as mechanical inspection and assembly, which are designed to meet the outsourcing requirements of medical device manufacturers seeking to reduce costs while maintaining high levels of quality, accuracy and timeliness. We are FDA and ISO registered and employ a detailed internal quality system to ensure ISO compliance.
Position Summary:
We are seeking a skilled Mechanical Inspector III to perform precision mechanical inspection of components, finished medical devices, labeling and packaging. This individual will ensure products meet design specifications, industry standards, and customer quality requirements using a variety of inspection tools and techniques.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform in-process, final, and receiving inspections of mechanical parts and assemblies
- Operate and program CMM (Coordinate Measuring Machines) to inspect parts per drawings and specifications
- Utilize blueprints, GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing), and technical drawings to verify part conformance
- Conduct inspections using micrometers, calipers, gauges, hand tools, and vision systems
- Record inspection results in accordance with Good Documentation Practices (GDP)
- Work closely with Manufacturing, Engineering, and Quality teams to resolve non-conformances
- Identify and communicate quality issues and trends to support continuous improvement
- Maintain accurate inspection records and assist with documentation for quality audits
- Follow all applicable safety and quality procedures in a cleanroom or lab environment
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required; technical certification or associate degree preferred
- 3–5 years of experience in mechanical inspection, preferably in the medical device, aerospace, or precision manufacturing industries
- 20/20 or corrected 20/20 vision is required
- Strong mechanical aptitude and attention to detail
- Proficient in programming and operating CMM machines (manual and/or CNC)
- Ability to calibrate machines to expectations of the customer
- Skilled in interpreting complex blueprints and applying GD&T
- Familiar with using hand inspection tools and vision systems
- Ability to train others in the use of dial indicators, comparator CMM
- Basic computer knowledge (Microsoft office)
- Working knowledge of ISO 13485 and FDA/GMP is a plus
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Strong communication and documentation skills
