Job Overview
Milmar is an established, fast growing construction company servicing Indiana, Illinois, Michigan and parts of Ohio. We are seeking a motivated, goal oriented Experienced Construction Permit Expeditor who wants to grow with us. A permit expeditor is responsible for preparing building permits submittal packages, as well as coordinating the efficient submittal, approval and retrieval from local jurisdictions. The goal is to support the timely and cost effective completion of projects. The permit expeditor coordinator communicates the status of each permit and works closely with the project managers to meet company timelines and goals.
Responsibilities
- Review, prepare, submit and receive permit packages in accordance with jurisdictional requirements.
- Coordinate payment and reimburse of permit fees according to company guidelines.
- Work with internal teams, consulting with architects, engineers and jurisdictional
employees to understand and resolve any jurisdictional comments.
- Be an advocate for the company and work with local jurisdictions to streamline permit processes.
- Meet customers to obtain signatures, final paperwork sign off and payment collection, if assigned.
- Organize all completed paperwork, and process payments in a compliant, secure
manner, if assigned.
- Utilize software systems to record progress of various tasks.
- Be well organized and timely with flow of emails, record documents online and transport documents.
- Assist team with any permitting requests when necessary.
- Compile data, handle paperwork, file permits, monitor each status of the permit approval process until projects are completed.
- Meet with city officials and project consultants throughout the permitting process.
- Travel to job sites when necessary.
Requirements:
- Must have a valid driver's license with clean record and own reliable transportation.
- Strong computer and communications skills are very important.
- Proficiency in MS Word, MS Excel, Google sheets.
- Ability to understand basic construction concepts.
- Conduct regular inspections on construction sites to ensure compliance with project specifications and quality standards.
- Analyze project data and reports to identify potential issues or delays in the supply chain.
- Collaborate with construction management teams to develop effective strategies for timely delivery of materials.
- Meet with city officials and project consultants throughout the permitting process.
- Proven experience in construction inspection or management is preferred.
- Strong understanding of quality control processes and construction site operations.
- Excellent organizational skills with a keen attention to detail.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, are important.
- Familiarity with contract management and compliance regulations is a plus.
- People-oriented, enjoys interacting with people and working on group projects.
