We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Construction Team Leader to oversee and manage our construction projects. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills and a comprehensive understanding of construction processes. This role involves coordinating with various teams, ensuring projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards. The Construction Team Leader will play a crucial role in guiding the team through all phases of construction while maintaining safety and compliance with industry regulations.
Responsibilities
- Team Leadership: Direct and mentor a crew of 3-5 workers, delegating tasks like post setting, framing, and roofing.
- Project Oversight: Manage the construction process from groundwork to completion, ensuring timelines and budgets are met.
- Quality Assurance: Inspect framing, siding, and roofing work to ensure compliance with Milmar’s standards, client specifications, and local building codes.
- Safety Enforcement: Uphold safety practices specific to post-frame construction, conducting regular checks and safety meetings.
- Problem Solving: Resolve issues like material shortages or structural adjustments, coordinating with supervisors as needed.
- Equipment Management: Oversee the use and care of tools (e.g., nail guns, saws) and heavy equipment (e.g., skid steers, lifts).
- Record Keeping: Track crew hours, project milestones, and material usage for accurate reporting.
Experience
- Experience: 3-5 years in post-frame construction or a similar field, with 1-2 years leading a crew preferred.
- Skills: Expertise in framing techniques, with post-frame specific skills preferred but not required (e.g., post setting, truss installation, metal siding); ability to read and understand blueprints.
- Leadership: Strong ability to manage people, communicate clearly, and maintain a productive and efficient team dynamic.
- Physical Requirements: Capable of lifting 50 lbs, working at heights, and enduring outdoor conditions.
- Certifications: OSHA 10/30 certification a plus; valid driver’s license a must (CDL preferred but not required).
- Attributes: Organized, proactive, and committed to delivering sturdy, reliable buildings.
- Primarily outdoor work at job sites in and around LaPorte, Indiana. Travel within a 200-mile radius of Laporte may be required.
- Standard schedule: Monday-Friday, 7:00 AM - 3:30 PM on the jobsite, with overtime, especially during peak seasons.
