A leading law firm is seeking a talented and driven Restructuring Associate to join its New York office. This is a premier opportunity to work on high-stakes, complex matters at the intersection of insolvency, restructuring, tax, and transactions. This role is ideal for a mid-level associate with a clear career trajectory and a genuine interest in building deep expertise in restructuring. We are particularly interested in candidates who have worked on both debtor and creditor-side matters, and who bring a well-rounded understanding of how restructuring intersects with broader transactional work.
Position: Restructuring Associate
Compensation: $235K - $310K
Location: New York City
Key Responsibilities:
- Advise debtors, creditors, investors, and other stakeholders in complex Chapter 11 restructurings, workouts, and distressed transactions
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams on M&A, tax, and financing issues in restructuring deals
- Conduct due diligence, draft legal documents, and contribute to strategy development and implementation
- Support and lead client communications and negotiations
Requirements:
- JD from a top-tier law school
- Admitted to the New York State Bar
- 2–4 years of experience as a practicing attorney at a top law firm
- Significant exposure to tax, transactional, and restructuring/insolvency matters
- Strong writing, analytical, and communication skills
- Demonstrated commitment to the field – no job hoppers
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, team-oriented, and intellectually rigorous environment
