Summary of Position
Milton Academy is seeking a Web and Digital Support Intern to assist the Chief Communications Officer and members of the Communications team in the development and launch of a new website (Finalsite) and an intranet/student information platform (Veracross).
This intern will play a key role in building out web pages, making content updates, and organizing information and visual assets within both platforms content management systems. The Web and Digital Support Intern will join a dynamic communications team dedicated to delivering a thoughtful, multichannel content strategy that serves the Milton Academy community.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities
1) Front-end Website Content Management Support, Execution and Maintenance:

Veracross / Finalsite Content Management System Support: Using page and module templates, execute plug-and-play page layouts and migrate information and media assets to the new platforms CMS.

Website Updates: Execute regular updates to the school's website content, working with the team to ensure they align with school branding, user needs, and accessibility / regulatory requirements.

Manage calendars, event listings, and news updates via Veracross or Finalsite.

Integrate and maintain external feeds/inputs, and pursue best practices in website management and maintenance.

Content Production: Responsible for managing day-to-day website content updates through platforms like Veracross and Finalsite, ensuring that faculty, staff, and students can access up-to-date information and enjoy an optimized user experience.

User Roles & Permissions: Managing permissions for different types of users (e.g., administrative users, faculty, students) within the content management system, ensuring appropriate access levels.
2) Maintenance of Digital Assets

Process and Organize Digital Assets: All photos, videos, PDFs and other digital assetsuploading, organizing and tagging items added to Smugmug, YouTube, Vimeo, Flickr, Issuu and other similar platforms.

Organize and categorize photos to aid photo library use and searchability

Assist faculty and staff in finding photos for their projects and publications.

3) Collaboration with Stakeholders:

Cross-Department Collaboration: Collaborate with other communication team members to work with departments (Admissions, Advancement, etc.) across the school to develop their pages, ensuring that the content, media assets and design support their goals.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
-
An understanding of how websites integrate into a larger communications strategy and how to effectively leverage digital content in audience engagement tactics.

Familiarity with the basic workings of a web presence that serves multiple audiences with a strategy that is on brand and audience-first.

Basic understanding of and some experience managing content in CMS platforms as well as a willingness to learn new CMS platforms as needed (training will be provided).

Basic understanding and some experience creating digital spaces and managing multimedia content for websites
Preferred Qualifications:

Experience managing a Finalsite based-website

Experience working in a Veracross environment

Familiarity with strategies for optimizing the user experience on websites

Experience supporting the effective execution of a content strategy across multiple platforms and channels
Supervision to be received: Chief Communication Officer
Supervision to be exercised: There are no direct reports for this position; however, the ability to work both independently and collaboratively with colleagues and other departments is critical.
Education/Certification/Licensure
Required: Course work in design-related field in Web Design, Computer Science, or related field
Preferred: Experience with Finalsite or Veracross platforms (customizations, data integration, template design) is a plus.
Physical Abilities
Required:

Must be able to work at a computer for up to 8 hours each day in conjunction with OSHA requirements.
