What are the responsibilities and job description for the Attendance Monitor, After-School Program position at Milton Community Schools?
The After-School Attendance Monitor is responsible for accurately managing and recording the daily attendance of all participants at each site. The main responsibility is tracking participants transitioning into and out of the after-school program and enrichment classes. This position communicates with families and other school programs to ensure students' safety and accurate attendance. Attendance Monitors are under the direction of the site supervisor.
This is a part-time position, Monday through Friday for the 2024-2025 school year.
Responsibilities include:
- Ability to commit to M-F / 2:00 - 6:00 p.m. (11:30 am-6:00 pm on occasional early school dismissal days).
- Maintain accurate daily attendance records.
- Close attention to details.
- Be able to ‘set up’ and ‘close up’ at the end of each day. (tables cleaned/ floor/windows shut supplies away etc.).
- Be able to anticipate the needs of a supervisor and the ability to come up with a “Plan B” if necessary/think on their feet.
- Must possess a professional attitude at all times.
- Must communicate any and all daily happenings to the supervisor in a timely manner.
- Must be a team player and have a positive attitude daily.
- Must be energetic and be able to be on their feet for the duration of the shift including going outside with participants.
- Demonstrate strong problem solving skills.
- Maintain confidentiality at all times.
- Possess a friendly, approachable, professional demeanor.
- Provide support in the supervision of youth and staff.
- Assist the supervisor in providing a safe, fun environment for both children enrolled in the program and staff.
- Ability to build relationships with program families and school staff.
- Other duties as needed at the discretion of the site supervisor and director.
Minimum Job Requirements:
- High School Education, Associate Degree (Related field Child Development, Early Childhood Education, Elementary Education, Human Services, Sociology, Psychology, Social Work, the Arts).
- Have a minimum of 1-2 years of demonstrated experience working with children between the ages of 5 years and 10 years in a camp, after-school, and/or classroom setting.
- Preferred experience in working with children from diverse cultural and economic backgrounds, and children with special needs.
- Citizenship, residency or work visa required.
- Availability during school vacation (Winter and Spring break) and district-wide Early Dismissal Days. All prospective staff will be required to undergo background checks and fingerprinting.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit, talk, walk, and hear. The employee is occasionally required to run during play or respond to an emergency. Employees are frequently required to engage with children on the floor and at their eye level. Employees are frequently required to use their hands and arms to handle and manipulate objects as well as reach them. Vision abilities are required for the supervision of children. WORK ENVIRONMENT: The noise level in the work environment is moderate to very loud. The work environment includes classroom and outdoor playgrounds
