What are the responsibilities and job description for the Early Childcare Program (ECP) Team Teacher position at Milton Family Community Center?
Position Overview:
Responsible for the daily classroom operation of the Infant or Toddler Classroom as assigned, including providing high quality care and education for up to 5 children daily in alignment with licensing ratio requirements (ages 6 weeks to approximately 3 years old) and maintaining positive collaborations with families, coworkers, service providers, and community partners.

Duties
Facilitate High-quality student engagement and classroom management
- Ensure the assigned MFCC Classroom meets or exceeds VT licensing regulations including:
- Record keeping
- Health and safety
- Classroom environment
- Curriculum
- Emergency Response Planning
- Initiate, direct, and facilitate activities with children to aid in development of socialization and self-help, language and reading, math, fine and gross motor skills, art, play, storytelling, songs, and dramatic play.
- Ensure student safety at all times, inclusive of ensuring the classroom physical environment remains clean and organized.
- Assist in safe distribution of nutritious meals and snacks to students, as prepared on-site. Collaborate with MFCC?s cook as needed to ensure all students receive adequate food, and allergies or accommodations are considered.
Implement Developmentally, Culturally, and Linguistically Appropriate Curriculum Development for your assigned classroom
- Work with Early Childcare Program Director and Lead Teacher to plan and implement developmentally appropriate curricula and students activities based on creative curriculum.
- Assess each child using the Teaching Strategies Gold online profile.
- Utilize scheduled office and planning time appropriately for the purpose of curriculum planning, complete necessary program or professional development paperwork and documentation, or other required administrative duties as assigned by the MFCC Child Care Director.
Assist in relevant record-keeping organization, training and compliance
- Ensure daily paperwork for the Child and Adult Care Food Program is up to date.
- Engage in and complete every year, from the date of initial hire, the minimum annual professional development training hours, and submit appropriate documentation via BFIS, as required by VT licensing regulations.
- Maintain certification in First Aid and CPR for infants/children.
Cultivate Strong Family - Teacher Partnerships
- Assist with other MFCC programs and community efforts to increase community and parental resilience.
- Establish a positive rapport with parents/guardians and act as an advocate/facilitator for families by sharing information and referrals that may benefit the child or family.
- Communicate with:
- Parents - regarding daily activities and schedule; special events; meals; and child specific information including behavior and well-being
- Collaborative partners- regarding students with special needs
Be a Team Player
- Drive positive organizational culture alongside fellow MFCC team members. Learn and model the MFCC Policies and Procedures. Create a positive work environment for all staff by role modeling positive and effective communication, and promoting the Strengthening Families framework for working with children and families.

- Attend MFCC all-staff meetings and activities
- Participate in all scheduled direct supervision and team meetings.
- Communicate with:
- ECP Director- regarding any concerns, issues, or questions of staff, parents, and collaborating partners;
- Staff- regarding curriculum ideas, thoughts, or concerns; daily responsibilities

Physical/environmental Requirements
There are several physical demands in this youth-facing role. Which include but may not be limited to:
- Sit, stand and/or move about for extended periods.
- Actively engage in play activities with students.
- Visual acuity to read and write printed materials, computer screens and observe students? movement.
- Hearing and speech abilities for ordinary and telephonic conversations and to speak to small groups of children.
- Ambulatory ability to move around the classroom, playgrounds and assist with play-oriented learning activities.
- Ability to lift children, carry, push and move supplies/furniture/etc. of light-to-medium weight (under 40 lbs.) on an intermittent basis.
Requirements
Must be at least 18 years of age and meet minimum qualifications for an early childhood teacher assistant as described by the Vermont Child Development Division for Licensed Child Care Center Programs and NAEYC to include or exceed:
?? At least a Vermont Early Childhood Career Ladder Level One (1) or Two (2) Certificate; or
? At least a current CDA (Child Development Associate) and at least twelve (12) months experience working with groups of children from grade three (3) or younger; or
? At least a State Board of Education approved Human Services Program Certificate that emphasizes child development or early childhood education and at least twelve (12) months experience working with groups of children from grade three (3) or younger; or
? At least successful completion of the Fundamentals for Early Childhood Professionals? course or the Vermont Afterschool Essentials Certificate and at least twelve (12) months experience working with groups of children from grade three (3) or younger; or
? At least successful completion of a three (3) college credit course in child or human development or a three (3) college credit course for school age care and education and at least twelve (12) months experience working with groups of children from grade three (3) or younger.?
