What are the responsibilities and job description for the Couples in Residential Education position at Milton Hershey School?
Milton Hershey School is seeking married couples to serve as nurturing guardians for students from disadvantaged backgrounds. As houseparents, you will provide a family-like environment in on-campus homes, guiding and supporting students with responsibilities including supervision, driving, and administering medication.
The ideal candidates will have experience working or volunteering with youth, preferably from under-served settings. They should be comfortable leading students in daily devotions and taking them to Judeo-Christian Sunday chapel services. Couples must also be able to lift up to 50 lbs and possess a high degree of integrity as role models for students.
As houseparents, you will work together with your spouse to provide a consistent family-like structure for students. You will handle responsibilities such as driving, administering medication, budgeting, reporting, and more. When initially hired, you will cover different student homes before being assigned to one specific home.
The benefits of this role include a competitive salary of $43,825 per person (a total compensation package of approx. $150,000 per couple), comprehensive benefits, relocation assistance, and paid training. You will also enjoy a schedule of nine days on followed by three days off, with a period of personal time while students are at school.
