Overview of Opportunity:
The Milton Hershey School is a leading private school for students from disadvantaged backgrounds, offering an exceptional education with housing, meals, and more – all at no cost to families. As a Youth Development Specialist, you and your spouse will reside on-campus as flex houseparents, guiding and nurturing a group of approximately 8-12 students aged pre-K to 12th grade.
Your role will involve providing a consistent family-like structure for students, handling responsibilities such as driving, administering medication, budgeting, and reporting. Flex houseparents cover different student homes before being assigned to one specific home.
This unique position offers a total compensation package of approx. $150,000 per couple, including free housing, meals while on duty, utilities, and more. You will enjoy a schedule of nine days on followed by three days off, with workdays including a period of personal time while students are at school. You'll also receive three-week paid summer vacation.
Our ideal candidate has experience working or volunteering with youth, preferably from under-served settings. Both spouses must be age 27 or older, and you should have no more than three dependent children residing in the student home.
A valid driver's license and ability to become certified to drive student home vans are required. Couples must be comfortable leading students in daily devotions and taking students to Judeo-Christian Sunday chapel services. A high school diploma or GED is necessary, and you must demonstrate a high degree of integrity.
