What are the responsibilities and job description for the Family Support Specialist position at Milton Hershey School?
Milton Hershey School seeks married couples to become part of our team as flex houseparents. In this role, you will provide a stable family-like environment for students from disadvantaged backgrounds.
As a flex houseparent, you will reside on-campus with a group of approximately 8-12 students, guiding and nurturing them through daily life. You will be responsible for various tasks such as driving, administering medication, budgeting, reporting, and more.
Flex houseparents cover different student homes before being assigned to one specific home. This position offers a comprehensive benefits package, competitive salary, paid training, and relocation assistance.
- Experience working or volunteering with youth, preferably from under-served settings
- Married couple with at least two years of marriage
- Both spouses should be age 27 or older
- No more than three dependent children may reside in the student home
- Ability to abide by a smoke-free and weapon-free campus
- Limits on pets; only fish and one dog of approved breeds are permitted
- Valid driver's license; ability to become certified to drive student home vans
- Comfortable leading students in daily devotions and taking them to Judeo-Christian Sunday chapel services
- High school diploma or GED required
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
