What are the responsibilities and job description for the House Parents position at Milton Hershey School?
Milton Hershey School is seeking married couples to become house parents. House parents provide a nurturing home environment for 8-12 students from disadvantaged backgrounds.
Couples work together to offer guidance, administer medication, and support student development while enjoying comprehensive benefits and scheduled time off. This role requires leadership, integrity, and a commitment to fostering a positive and family-like atmosphere for students.
The school provides an exceptional career-focused education with housing, meals, and more—all costs are covered. The comprehensive benefits package includes medical, dental, and vision insurance, health savings and flexible spending accounts, life insurance, disability options, and retirement savings.
Candidates must have experience working or volunteering with youth, preferably from under-served settings. Both spouses should be age 27 or older and abide by a smoke-free and weapon-free campus. No alcohol is permitted while on duty. Limitations apply to pets, but approved breeds of dogs and fish are permitted.
Couples must demonstrate a high degree of integrity as all staff are role models for students. A valid driver's license is required, and the ability to become certified to drive student home vans is necessary. Candidates must also be comfortable leading students in daily devotions and taking them to Judeo-Christian Sunday chapel services.
