Role Summary:
We are seeking married couples to become flex houseparents at Milton Hershey School. As a flex houseparent, you will live on campus and provide a nurturing family-like environment for approximately 8-12 students. You will guide and support students, handle household responsibilities, and ensure student well-being. This is a unique opportunity for couples who want to make a positive impact on the lives of students from under-served settings.
Responsibilities:
As a flex houseparent, your responsibilities will include:
- Providing a nurturing family-like environment for students
- Guiding and supporting students in their academic and personal growth
- Handling household responsibilities, such as cooking, cleaning, and laundry
- Ensuring student well-being and safety
- Driving students to activities and appointments
- Administering medication as needed
- Budgeting and managing household finances
- Reporting any issues or concerns to management
- Participating in daily devotions and taking students to Judeo-Christian Sunday chapel services
Requirements:
To be successful as a flex houseparent, couples should have:
- Experience working or volunteering with youth, preferably from under-served settings
- A valid driver's license and the ability to become certified to drive student home vans
- A high school diploma or GED
- Both spouses must be age 27 or older and legally married for at least two years
- A high degree of integrity, as you will serve as role models for students
- The ability to lift up to 50 pounds
- No more than three dependent children may reside in the student home
