Compensation Package:
Couples working as houseparents at Milton Hershey School receive a competitive salary of $43,825 per person, totaling approximately $150,000 per couple. This includes free housing, meals while on duty, utilities, and comprehensive benefits such as medical, dental, and vision insurance, health savings accounts, life insurance, disability options, and retirement savings.
Job Duties:
As a houseparent at Milton Hershey School, you will provide a supportive family environment for a small group of students. You and your spouse will live on-campus, care for the students, manage daily responsibilities, and guide them in their daily lives. This role requires flexibility, adaptability, and a commitment to supporting the academic, emotional, and social development of your students.
Requirements:
To be successful as a houseparent, you and your spouse must have experience working or volunteering with youth, preferably from under-served settings. Both spouses should be at least 27 years old, married for at least two years, and able to lift up to 50 pounds. You must also have a valid driver's license, be willing to become certified to drive student home vans, and abide by a smoke-free and weapon-free campus policy.
