Milton Hershey School is seeking married couples to become flex houseparents. As a flex houseparent, you will reside in on-campus student homes and guide and nurture a group of approximately 8-12 students.
You will be responsible for maintaining a family-like structure, overseeing daily activities, and managing various tasks such as transportation and budgeting. This unique role requires flexibility, patience, and a commitment to guiding students from under-served settings.
About the Role
As a Youth Development Specialist, you will play a vital role in shaping the lives of our students. You will be responsible for creating a supportive and nurturing environment, overseeing daily activities, and managing various tasks such as transportation and budgeting.
This role requires strong communication and interpersonal skills, as well as the ability to work effectively with students, parents, and colleagues.
Responsibilities
Your responsibilities will include:
- Maintaining a family-like structure and overseeing daily activities
- Managing various tasks such as transportation and budgeting
- Creating a supportive and nurturing environment for 8-12 students
- Overseeing daily devotions and taking students to Judeo-Christian Sunday chapel services (Note: Proselytizing is prohibited)
Requirements
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- Experience working or volunteering with youth, preferably from under-served settings
- Two years of marriage and both spouses should be age 27 or older
- No more than three dependent children may reside in the student home
- A valid driver's license and ability to become certified to drive student home vans
- Candidates must demonstrate a high degree of integrity as all staff are role models for students
