Milton Hershey School is a world-renowned private school that provides an exceptional career-focused education to students from disadvantaged backgrounds. We are seeking married couples to join our team as Houseparents to guide and nurture a group of approximately 8-12 students.
About the Opportunity
As a Houseparent, you will reside in one of our on-campus homes and provide a consistent family-like structure for your students. Your responsibilities will include managing daily routines, transportation, medication administration, and budgeting. You will also have the opportunity to lead students in daily devotions and take them to Judeo-Christian Sunday chapel services.
This role requires a high degree of integrity, as all staff members are role models for our students. We are looking for couples who are comfortable leading by example and providing guidance and support to our students.
What We Offer
We offer a competitive salary of $43,825 per person, with a total compensation package of approximately $150,000 per couple. Our benefits include medical, dental, and vision insurance; health savings and flexible spending accounts; life insurance; disability options; and retirement savings.
In addition, we provide relocation assistance and paid training. Our schedule offers nine days on followed by three days off, with a period of personal time while students are at school. We also offer three weeks of paid summer vacation.
Qualifications
- Experience working or volunteering with youth, preferably from under-served settings
- This is a two-person job for couples who have been legally married for at least two years
- Both spouses should be age 27 or older
- No more than three dependent children may reside in the student home
- Abide by a smoke-free and weapon-free campus. No alcohol is permitted while on duty
- Limits on pets. Only fish and one dog of approved breeds is permitted
- Valid driver's license; ability to become certified to drive student home vans
- Couples must be comfortable leading students in daily devotions and taking students to Judeo-Christian Sunday chapel services (Note: Proselytizing is prohibited)
- High school diploma or GED required
- Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
