Milton Hershey School is a private school that provides an exceptional education to students from disadvantaged backgrounds. As a flex houseparent, you will play a vital role in guiding and nurturing a group of 8-12 students living on-campus.
The ideal candidate couple will have experience working or volunteering with youth, preferably in under-served settings. They should be comfortable living in a smoke-free and weapon-free campus, and have no more than three dependent children residing in the student home. Additionally, they should have a valid driver's license and be able to become certified to drive student home vans.
As flex houseparents, your responsibilities will include providing a consistent family-like structure for students, handling transportation and medication administration, and daily budgeting. You will also be responsible for leading students in daily devotions and taking them to Judeo-Christian Sunday chapel services.
Flex houseparents receive a competitive salary of $43,825 per person (total compensation package of approx. $150,000 per couple) which includes free housing, meals while on duty, utilities, and more. Relocation assistance and paid training are also provided.
Working days consist of nine days on followed by three days off, with a period of personal time while students are at school. Flex houseparents enjoy a three-week paid summer vacation. The schedule is designed to provide balance and flexibility for the couple.
Qualifications
- Experience working or volunteering with youth, preferably in under-served settings
- Both spouses must be age 27 or older
- Legally married couple for at least two years
- Valid driver's license; ability to become certified to drive student home vans
- Couple must be comfortable leading students in daily devotions and taking students to Judeo-Christian Sunday chapel services
- High school diploma or GED required
- Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Demonstrate high degree of integrity as all staff are role models for students
