Residential Youth Support Staff

Milton Hershey School offers a unique opportunity for couples to become residential youth support staff, guiding and nurturing students from disadvantaged backgrounds. As a flex houseparent, you'll live in an on-campus student home, supporting a group of approximately 8-12 students.

Salary and Benefits

The total compensation package includes a salary of $43,825 per person (approximately $150,000 per couple) and comprehensive benefits: medical, dental, and vision insurance; health savings and flexible spending accounts; life insurance; disability options; retirement savings. We also offer relocation assistance and paid training.

Responsibilities and Qualifications

As a flex houseparent, you'll handle responsibilities such as driving, administering medication, budgeting, reporting, and other duties. Initially, you'll cover different student homes before being assigned to one specific home.

• Experience working or volunteering with youth, preferably from under-served settings
• Legally married couples with at least two years of marriage
• Age 27 or older for both spouses
• No more than three dependent children in the student home
• Smoke-free and weapon-free campus policy
• Pet restrictions: fish and one dog of approved breeds allowed
• Valid driver's license and certification to drive student vans
• Comfortable leading daily devotions and taking students to Sunday chapel services
• High school diploma or GED required
• Lift up to 50 lbs and demonstrate high integrity
