Summary
This position is responsible for leading the production and profitability of the Body Shop Department, coaching and growing team managers and providing exceptional service and quality repairs to our customer base. Employee fulfills primary responsibilities through strong leadership, excellent communication skills and extensive knowledge of all levels of body repair.
Primary Responsibilities
- Productivity & Profitability
- Oversees all production of Body Shop Department
- Forecasts goals and objectives for department and strives to meet them
- Maintains reasonable department operating profit while controlling expenses
- Manages shop materials account and provides detailed explanations for purchases
- Monitors product supply level
- Regularly reviews processes to ensure highest level of productivity and service to customers
- Monitors production for areas of improvement and implements changes
- Thinks strategically and creatively to solve problems and lead an efficient and successful department
- Holds team leaders accountable to cycle time and quality of repairs
- Completes periodic spot checks across all areas to check quality level
- Makes final call on any jobs outside of normal repair procedures
- Assists in leading daily production meeting
- Meets daily with Shop Foreman to discuss production, current jobs in repair, staffing concerns, etc.
- Maintains high CSI levels
- Establishes and maintains good working relationships with customers as necessary
- Handles customer complaints
- Builds relationships with insurance adjusters
- Acts as the gatekeeper and decision maker for accepting jobs/OEM work or supplements
- Communicates with Fixed Ops Director regarding traffic flow and advertising needs
- Has as understanding of budget in order to gauge effectiveness of spending
- Understands and keeps abreast of and complies with federal, state and local regulations that affect operations, including hazardous waste disposal, OSHA Right-to-know
- Maintains compliance at all levels regarding repairs and day to day work
- Enforces safety policies and regulations and promotes safety equipment
- Follows Milton Martin Toyota’s internal guidelines
- People Development
- Leads & Develops Team Managers- Challenges them to:
- Coach and develop their team
- Communicate clearly with expectations and affirmations
- Retain their team and build an upcoming bench
- Is the direct report for: Shop Foreman, Estimators, Front Office Team, Parts Individuals
- Meets regularly with those listed above to review performance and train
- Holds team accountable to growth and achieving monthly goals
- Communicates any changes and casts vision for department
- Assists in hiring and training new hires
- Facilitates or schedules regular training for team
- Promotes culture full of growth opportunities and advancement
- Works with Shop Foreman to hold team accountable to monthly/annual training requirements
- Leads by example and exhibits MMT’s 4 Cs in daily interactions

- Automotive Experience: Extensive experience in the automotive repair industry, particularly in collision repair.
- Management Experience: Previous experience in a supervisory or management role within a collision center or similar setting.
- Customer Service Experience: Proven track record of providing excellent customer service in a fast-paced environment.
- Technical Knowledge: Understanding of collision repair processes, techniques, and tools.
- Leadership Skills: Ability to lead a team effectively, motivate employees, and foster a positive work environment.
- Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills for interacting with staff, customers, and vendors.
