Bucks Health and Wellness is a holistic medical program that specializes in obesity management in the underserved community of Milwaukee. Our mission is to help cure the obesity epidemic by bringing our holistic weight loss program to those in need and unable to otherwise afford holistic care and weight loss programs. Bucks Health & Wellness is made possible by the Milwaukee Bucks Foundation with the goal of improving the health and wellbeing of the underserved in Milwaukee. POSITION OVERVIEW
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Physician to join our holistic medical weight loss program serving the underserved communities. Our Bucks Health and Wellness program focuses on providing integrative and comprehensive weight management solutions that encompass medicine, exercise, and nutrition programs. The ideal candidate will have a passion for community health, a holistic approach to medicine, and a commitment to reducing health disparities.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Conduct comprehensive assessments of patients’ health, incorporating medical, psychological, and social factors influencing obesity and weight management.
- Develop personalized weight management plans that include dietary guidance, physical activity recommendations, behavioral strategies, and appropriate medical interventions.
- Monitor and adjust individual treatment plans based on patient progress and medical evaluations.
- Engage with patients through our member app and ensure excellent continuity of care.
- Provide ongoing support and motivation to patients through regular follow-up appointments and health education.
- Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team including dietitians, physicians, nurse practitioners, exercise physiologists, and community health workers to ensure a cohesive and effective approach to patient care.
- Advocate for patients within the healthcare system, helping to navigate barriers to access and care continuity.
- Participate in community outreach and education initiatives to promote wellness and healthy lifestyles in underserved areas.
- Stay updated on the latest research and advancements in obesity medicine, holistic care, and health equity.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Medical degree (MD or DO) and board certification in Family Medicine, Internal Medicine, or related field.
- Additional certification in Obesity Medicine, Nutrition, or Holistic Health is highly preferred.
- Experience working in community health settings, particularly with underserved populations.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with proficiency in communicating complex medical information to diverse patient populations.
- Demonstrated commitment to holistic health practices and patient-centered care.
- Bilingual abilities are a plus, reflecting the languages spoken in the community served.
