Summary:
The Team Security Operator will be responsible for implementing security plans and maintaining the safety of Milwaukee Bucks players, coaches, and staff at the direction of the Director of Team Security. This position will be responsible for ensuring a safe operating environment for all Bucks team personnel both in Milwaukee and on the road, including securing the training, practice and game facilities during official events and team events as required.
Specific Duties and Responsibilities:
• Provide security support to players, coaches and staff both in Milwaukee, on road trips and team events.
• Implement security measures in the team training center, arena and team hotels in Milwaukee and during the NBA season.
• Liaise with federal, state, and local law enforcement contacts.
• Participate in employee and player safety training and briefings.
• Plan, design and implement security measures on the road in advance of and during team travel.
• Provide security for player and team appearances.
• Conduct security assessments of venues and facilities where organization personnel will be working.
• Provide additional security services and fulfill other duties as assigned within the organization at the direction of the Director of Team Security.
Required Skills/Knowledge:
• Shown experience in conducting investigations and implementation of security protocols.
• Ability to maintain very confidential and highly critical information.
• Confirmed knowledge and proficiency in computer applications: Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
• Strong interpersonal skills with emphasis on preparing reports, security assessments and analysis.
• Consistent track record of teamwork, willingness to excel in asymmetrical work environments, and desire to help others accomplish common goals to achieve team success.
• Possess the qualities necessary to excel in providing extraordinary security to a professional sports team.
Qualification Requirements:
• Minimum of 10 years of law enforcement or related experience focusing on special events, personal security, emergency, and prioritization.
• Current certification under the Law Enforcement Officers Safety Act (LEOSA/HR 218) and subsequent ability to qualify to carry a firearm in fulfillment of job duties.
• Willingness and ability to respond “off-hours” to work related incidents.
• Willingness and ability to travel extensively throughout the year in support of the security needs of the organization during the season and off season (Approximately 120 days).
• Certifications / Training / Experience in Executive Protection, Emergency Medicine and Tactical Driving.
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
Physical Requirements:
Stand or Sit: Must be able to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time.
Walk & Run: The person in this position needs to frequently move about on the court during practice and in game situations as well as at the team hotel, shootaround and while traversing to and from events. Run as required to intercede in emergency actions.
Use hands/fingers to handle or feel: Constantly operates a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as a calculator, copy machine, and computer printer. Also utilizes walkie talkie and team provided communications equipment as well as handle, manipulate and function firearms.
Climb (stairs/ladders) or balance: Ability to ascend/descend ladder/stairs to access the team plane.
Stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl: Constantly positions self to maintain the appropriate visual contact with team employees.
Talk/hear: The ability to communicate information and ideas so others will understand. Must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations.
See: The ability to observe details at close range (within a few feet of the observer).
Carry weight, lift: Frequently moves boxes, luggage, equipment, etc… weighing up to 50 pounds across office and travel environments for various needs.
Ability to intercede in physical altercations with professional athletes to protect self and others from physical harm.
Exposure to work: Constantly works in inclement and challenging weather conditions.
