What are the responsibilities and job description for the School Psychologist position at Milwaukee College Preparatory School?
Summary:
The School Psychologist’s primary responsibility is to facilitate learning and to promote the cognitive, social and personal development of all scholars.
Essential Functions:
- Assessment and Interpretation: Identifies and assesses the learning, development, and adjustment characteristics and needs of individuals and groups, as well as, the environmental factors that affect learning and adjustment.
- Uses assessment data about the scholar and his/her environment(s) in developing appropriate interventions and programs
- Direct Interventions for Students: Provides interventions to students to support the teaching process and to maximize learning and adjustment
- Consultation and Training: Provides consultation and training to parents, teachers, other school personnel, and community agencies to enhance the learning and adjustment of students.
- Program Development: Assists in the planning, development, and evaluation of programs to meet identified learning and adjustment needs.
- School Psychology Program Implementation: Delivers a planned and coordinated program of psychological services.
- Professional Practice and Development: Applies ethics and standards of professional practice in the delivery of school psychological services and observes relevant laws and policies that govern practice. Participates in professional organizations and continually seeks to improve professional knowledge and skills.
- Communication and Relationship Skills: Communicates effectively with students, parents, community members, and school staff.
- Maintains files and/or records (e.g. progress reports, activity logs, treatment plans, required documentation, quarterly reports, screening results, etc.) for the purpose of ensuring the availability of information as required for reference and/or compliance. Maintains confidentiality of student records.
- RTI Oversight: Provides RTI training, leadership and monitoring. Facilitates the implementation of the RTI process for scholars.
- Participates in meetings, workshops, and seminars (e.g. training, IEPs, team meetings, etc.) for the purpose of conveying and/or gathering information.
- Provides model for students of exemplary conduct
Other Duties:
- Performs other related duties, as assigned, for the purpose of ensuring the efficient and effective functioning
- Attends training and staff meetings
Skills/Attributes
- Must have a belief in and be in alignment with Milwaukee College Prep’s core beliefs and educational philosophy
- Able to prepare and maintain accurate records, including IEP’s.
- Education - Master’s degree in educational psychology or psychology.
- Experience with students in grades K3-8th.
- A current license by the State of Wisconsin required or school psychologist issued by DPI or the ability to obtain either
- Mandatory Child Abuse Reporting Certification required annually before first day with scholars.
