AIRPORT MAINTENANCE WORKER - Full Time
Department – Maintenance
Hourly Pay Range $$26.45 - $30.49

WORKING ON ANY ASSIGNED SHIFT ANY DAY OR NIGHT OF THE WEEK OR DURING EMERGENCY SITUATIONS WILL BE REQUIRED.
Job Summary: Perform maintenance and improvements to Airport roads, grounds, runways, taxiways, parking areas, buildings, fixtures and fence lines. Operate and maintain specialized motorized equipment for the purpose of grounds maintenance and snow removal. Work is performed to maintain compliance with FAA standard.
Essential Duties:
Perform maintenance, repairs and improvements to Airport property - Perform maintenance, repairs and improvements to Airport runways, taxiways, aprons, roads, grounds, airfield pavement and fence lines. Maintenance can include, but is not limited to; pavement markings, pavement repair of concrete and asphalt, earth moving and grading, joint repair, lawn cutting and care, and tree and shrub maintenance and removal.
Perform maintenance to buildings and fixtures - Perform maintenance and repairs to Airport buildings and fixtures. May include basic carpentry and other remedial construction skills to complete projects on the exterior and interior of buildings and fixtures. May include basic welding and sheet metal fabrication skills to complete a vast aray of projects.
Operate Snow Removal Equipment during and after snow events - Using specialized airport snow removal equipment, clear snow from airside pavement (runway, taxiway, aprons, etc.) and landside (roads, sidewalks, etc.) through the use of plowing, sweeping, airport deicer chemical application, and other equipment as needed.
Operate and maintain heavy motorized equipment - Operate and maintain a variety of motorized equipment to include: Vans, trucks, loaders backhoes, skid steer, graders, sweepers and specialized snow removal equipment. Perform daily maintenance and make minor adjustments on equipment.
Participate in training and train others - Participate in various training classes and seminars. Assist in training other maintenance personnel.
Minimum Qualifications:
Current resident of WI.
Current valid WI Driver’s License.
High school diploma or G. E. D. equivalency is required.
Any one of the following can be considered -
At least Two (2) year of experience of semi-skilled mechanical, building and/or grounds, snow removal is required. OR
In lieu of external experience, 1 season direct at GMIA/MKE
Ability to lift/carry up to 60 lbs. and push/pull up to 60Ibs. is required.
Must have, good eyesight, hearing and physical ability. Able to work long hours during emergency situations and in adverse weather conditions.

Intermediate knowledge of all related computer and software applications, such as word processing and spreadsheets.
License:
Commercial Driver’s License-Class B with air brake endorsement within 6 months of hire
Class 1 Airfield Driving Certification within 6 months of hire.
THE REQUIREMENTS OF THE OMNIBUS TRANSPORTATION TESTING ACT OF 1991 AND THE DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION REGULATIONS, INCLUDING MANDATORY DRUG AND ALCOHOL TESTING, APPLY TO THESE POSITIONS. THE APPOINTING DEPARTMENT WILL CONDUCT A BACKGROUND INVESTIGATION WITH PREVIOUS EMPLOYERS AND DRUG TESTING OF ALL CANDIDATES CERTIFIED FOR APPOINTMENT.

The non-competitive examination will consist of criteria deemed appropriate by the Director of Human Resources.
