Carpenter Supervisor – Parks
Hourly Range: $43.61

Summary: To oversee and supervise carpentry staff as well as contractors, the designing, building, installing, and repairing structures, fixtures, furniture, and other items using different types of materials including wood and steel to protect and enhance Department assets.
Job Responsibilities:
Personnel management - Assign work orders and establish priorities, providing daily supervision to ensure the successful performance of the carpentry team. Complete time sheet approvals and performance evaluations. Participate in and recommend hiring of carpentry staff.
Project planning and review - Prepare estimates and material lists; interpret blueprints, sketches, and specifications; create scopes-of-work; monitor and advise on contractor work. Attend project meetings, collaborate with other departments to support the overall needs of facilities.
Administration - Use software systems to process purchase requests, process work orders, & payroll; inventory supplies; review blueprints, building codes and technical manuals; assist with project management; maintain logs; ensure relevant safety codes and regulations are implemented.
Perform carpentry and related duties - Perform inspections of Departmental assets for building code compliance and maintenance needs. Perform routine and emergency repairs of buildings and structures including but not limited to; doors, windows, roofs, walls, floors, ceilings, siding, bridges, fences, and wooden.
Budget management - Prepare and monitor carpentry budget to ensure responsible fiscal management.
Equipment maintenance - Inspect and maintain all equipment and tools related to the performance of job duties.
Special assignments and projects - Participate on special project teams; community outreach efforts; marketing and communication efforts; and othe duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
Current residency in the State of Wisconsin required.
A valid State of Wisconsin Driver’s License at time of hire and maintained throughout employment.
HS Diploma/GED
At least Five (5) year or more of work experience as a Journeyman Carpenter.
At least Five (5) years of supervisory experience as Journeyman Carpenter
Applicants must successfully undergo a criminal history background check.
Completion of Apprenticeship as a Carpenter or recognized Journeyman Certificate in a related field
Ability to lift/pull/push and carry 50 lbs.
Preferred:
Experience with blueprint design review preferred
Experience with roofing, shingling, drywall, specialized form construction preferred
Custom cabinet building preferred
Scaffold erection experience preferred
Asbestos Certification preferred
License: MUST HAVE
Recognized Journeyman Carpenter Certificate or in a related field
Equipment, tools, or materials used to perform the job:
Van or pick-up truck, Fork Truck, Shop, and hand tools of the Carpenter trade such as hammers, drills, saws, etc., Step and extension.
Personal Protective Equipment used:
Safety glasses, hard hat, gloves, proper footwear, hearing protection, respirator.
