CHILD SUPPORT SPECIALIST
Pay Rate: $19.88 to $29.83 Hourly
Closing Date: March 12, 2025 or upon receipt of the first 50 application submissions received.

Job Summary: The Child Support Specialist monitors child support caseloads for all appropriate enforcement actions in accordance with Federal Regulations and mandated time frames.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Manage and monitor sizeable child support caseloads for delinquency and compliance with court orders. Prioritize computerized work items and reports taking appropriate enforcement actions. Prepare legal documents including drafting of pleadings to initiate actions.
  • Engage with case participants in person, by phone, email, or mail to provide case and procedural information. Negotiate payment plans to prevent or resolve administrative enforcement actions.
  • Review and evaluate routine and specialized reports. Make determinations regarding case needs and follow through accordingly. Review case data elements for accuracy, make appropriate corrections and updates on invalid data and document required case events and activities.
  • Correspond by phone, fax, mail and email with case participants and other business agencies ensuring responses are completed in a timely manner.
  • Perform all other duties as may be assigned.
Minimum Education and Experience Required:
  • Current resident of the State of Wisconsin
  • Graduation from high school or G.E.D. equivalent required
  • Two (2) years of office experience conducting interviews and working with the public required
  • Basic knowledge of all related computer and software applications, such as word processing and spreadsheets.
Preferred Experience:
  • The ability to work with and provide services to individuals who are representative of a diverse, multi-cultural cross section of our community including individuals of all socio-economic levels which is crucial to this position
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Knowledge of legal documents and their purpose with strong organizational skills. Polished communicator possessing interviewing skills. Understands basic accounting with excellent mathematical skills. Knowledge and skilled in the use of personal computers and the ability to enter and retrieve information. Perform basic word processing duties, including the generation of correspondences, legal documents and reports. Sound analytical skills and detail orientated with strong problem-solving skills to quickly access and determine client-based issues. Able to work independently with minimal supervision, effectively and harmoniously with the general public, attorneys, court officials, community-based agencies, law enforcement and other governmental departments.
