Lead 911 Dispatcher Courthouse location Hourly Rate:  $25.11 - $37.65   Closing Date: March 13th, 2025, or upon receipt of the first 50 application submissions received   JOB Summary:  The Lead Dispatcher is responsible for all shift operations on the floor, daily oversight of team duties, ensure 24/7 coverage, adherence to Directives/SOPs. Lead must ensure staff are meeting performance metric minimums.  Lead spends 80% of their time working as a call-taker, CDO or dispatcher and coordinates with leadership to provide technical assistance to staff, resolve minor work or personnel problems.        JOB DUTIES: Ensure dispatchers perform duties in accordance with approved policies and procedures. Professional business acumen and situational awareness. Responsible for all dispatch operations and dispatchers while on duty. Meet all the requirements of a 911 Dispatcher/Call Taker, including but not limited to answering, processing incoming 911 and administrative calls and dispatch MCSO Deputies for calls for service. Responsible for monitoring all 911 Dispatchers to ensure compliance with dispatching duties. Write and maintain dispatch schedule, track Dispatcher attendance. Ensure 24/7 coverage with minimal overtime is provided to support public safety operations. Provide leadership on dispatch floor employing the core principles of OEM: Loyalty, Compassion, Tenacity. Review dispatchers' appearance, conduct, and contacts with co-workers, public, and other outside entities. Properly document complaints and provide written details to Management. Monitor Communications equipment daily to ensure equipment is in proper working conditions. Including but not limited to Time Stamp accuracy, ANI ALI/CAD problems, radio and PC performance. Maintain OEM back-up kits that include cellphones, radios and COOP plans. Provide staff training recommendations, including the Dispatch Manual. Coach dispatchers on proper performance of their duties. Monitor completion of EDC and training materials. Provide continual training via huddles, in-services, and regular review of the Dispatch Manual. Collect and maintain 911 analytics reports, including 911 stats and call answer times. Maintain Emergency Alert System contact list, verify Vinelink VPO's have been entered. Maintain proper dispatch logs and on-call lists.  Verify Dispatcher daily logins to required systems Dedicated Lead time to complete administrative duties. Other duties as assigned by OEM Director, OEM Deputy Director, 911 Division Director and/or CDO or 911 Supervisor to include assistance with hiring, firing, recommendations for performance and behavior issues.   MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: Current Wisconsin resident at time of application Graduation from high school or G.E.D. equivalent Wisconsin Driver’s License maintained throughout employment At least one (1) year of experience working as a 911 Call-taker for Law, Fire or EMS dispatching At least 6 months of experience leading a team. Must be able to pass a criminal background, including a drug test. Must be available to work on holidays and weekends; shift will be over weekends and holidays, required. Basic knowledge of all related computer and software applications, such as word processing and spreadsheets. (Microsoft Word/Excel)   Note: All appointees must successfully complete the Transaction Information Management Enforcement (TIME) system training and Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) compliance, and Association of Public Safety (APCO PST) certification within six (6) months of hire date.    Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Knowledge of modern office methods, practices, procedures and equipment; skill in prioritizing and performing multiple tasks simultaneously; oral and written communication skills, math skills, skill in data entry; ability to learn the boundaries of Milwaukee County and its freeway system, including highway designations, boundaries and landmarks; ability to clearly speak and understand English; ability to receive and transmit emergency calls accurately; ability to operate radio network and phones; ability to obtain critical information; ability to learn abstract codes needed to query computers via terminals; ability to work in confined areas for extended periods of time; ability to clearly hear incoming calls and radio responses; ability to work independently; ability to read and interpret multiple computer screens; and the ability to work in a high tempo and noisy environment while under stress for the duration of shift to ensure officer and public safety; disciplined and the having effective working relationships with staff and public is required. The ability to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 30lbs when needed. NOTE: This ORIGINAL APPLICATION is open to qualified residents of the State of Wisconsin at the time of application.
