Painter – BuildingsDAS – Facilities Management
$37.40 Per Hour
Job Summary: Under the supervision of the Painting Supervisor, the Painter will complete painting of building structures and equipment for aesthetic, preservation, and sanitation needs.
Job Duties:
Repainting interior and exterior buildings and mechanical equipment: Washing, scraping, patching, sanding, priming and finishing of mechanical equipment, offices, courtrooms, cells, stairwells and common areas using hand and power tools, ladders, scaffolding and lifts.
Drywall finishing and painting remodeled areas and new construction: Use of drywall finishing tools, compounds and spray equipment used in new construction.
Wall covering installation and repair: Use of vinyl wallcovering pastes, machines and hanging tools to install and repair wallcovering.
Plaster Repair: Use of plastering materials and tools to repair existing plaster surfaces.
Wood Finishing: Use of stains, dyes and coatings to finish doors, cabinets, and millwork.
Color Matching and Mixing: Use of stains, dyes, colorants and formulas to match wood finishes and painted surfaces.
Graffiti Removal: Use of removers, solvents, water and abrasive blasters to remove graffiti from stone, concrete, masonry and painted surfaces.
Industrial Coatings: Correct surface preparation, mixing and application of 2 component epoxy and urethane coatings.
Perform all other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
Current resident of the State of WI
High School or G.E.D. equivalent required.
Possession of a valid Wisconsin Drivers’ license is required at time of application and maintained during incumbency.
Completion of a Painter apprenticeship which is certified by the Wisconsin Department of Industry, Labor and Human Relations or Bureau of Apprenticeship and Training, U.S. Dept. of Labor.
At least five (5) years of experience as a Journeyman Painter.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: Exchange of basic information with internal and/or external contacts. Explain and gather information, answer queries, or ask assistance with internal and/or external contacts. Read, write and comprehend simple instructions, reports, short correspondence and memos. Speak effectively before both internal and/or external groups. Makes decisions of responsibility involving evaluation of information; decisions may require development or application of alternatives or precedents. Understand and follow instructions. Execute decisions within limits of standard policy and procedures. Ability to lift and carry up to 50lbs on a frequent basis. Ability to push and pull up to 50lbs on a frequent basis.
Must be able to work in all Milwaukee County facilities including secured detention/high-security facilities and work in areas with sensitive information and assets Applicants must successfully undergo a criminal history background check to establish security clearance for Milwaukee County facilities and maintain this clearance throughout employment.
