Job Summary - As a Senior Network Specialist at the airport, this position is responsible for the design, maintenance, and security of complex network, server, and storage infrastructure, ensuring seamless operations in a dynamic aviation environment. The role involves planning for infrastructure scalability, troubleshooting critical network issues, implementing robust security measures, and collaborating with various stakeholders to align technology initiatives with our operational goals. This position will play a pivotal role in maintaining the reliability and efficiency of our airport's network and server infrastructure, contributing to a safe and smooth passenger experience and aligning IT standards with IMSD.
Job Responsibilities:
Airport Network Design and Planning - Develop and maintain the airport's network infrastructure, considering unique aviation requirements, safety, and security standards. Ensure scalability and efficient data flow. Design, configure, and deploy network infrastructure, including routers, switches, and firewalls in a high availability environment.
Network and Server Troubleshooting - Diagnose and resolve complex network and server issues, particularly those affecting critical airport operations, such as emergency response systems, VoIP systems, and security systems. Handle network and service issues escalated from lower levels of support.
Airport Security Network Management - Implement and manage network security measures tailored to airport operations, including surveillance systems, and access control systems to protect from cyber threats and vulnerabilities. Remediate discovered vulnerabilities in a timely manner.
Capacity Planning - Monitor network performance and anticipate future capacity needs to support growing passenger volumes, airline demands, the integration of new technologies, and alignment with IMSD systems and controls.
Vendor and Contractor Management - Collaborate with technology vendors, consultants, and contractors to procure and maintain hardware, negotiate service contracts, and oversee project execution. Evaluate new technologies and provide recommendations.
Network Documentation and Compliance - Maintain accurate and up-to-date network documentation, ensuring compliance with TSA regulations and standards. Provide documentation for audits and inspections. Perform asset tagging of equipment and maintain asset list of hardware and software.
Network Monitoring and Reporting - Utilize network monitoring tools to proactively identify issues that could impact airport operations. Generate real-time reports on network health and performance.
Disaster Recovery and Redundancy - Develop and maintain disaster recovery plans specific to airport operations, including redundancy measures to ensure uninterrupted service during emergencies.
Project Management and Change Management - Implement network changes while minimizing disruptions to critical airport functions. Adhere to change control processes to ensure operational continuity.
Minimum Requirements:
Current resident of WI
Valid WI driver’s license
Bachelor’s degree in information systems/technology or closely related field.
At least Five (5) years of experience in Supporting and monitoring networks, virtualization, Windows Servers.
An associate degree with 7 or more years of experience will be considered in lieu of a Bachelor's Degree.
Ability to occasionally lift/push/pull/carry 50lbs.
Federal Airport Security regulations require that applicants successfully undergo a criminal history background check to maintain security clearance for unescorted access to secure areas of the airport.
Certifications/Licenses:
Preferred - Microsoft Certification – Azure and/or 365
Preferred - Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) and/or Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP)
Preferred Skills and Experience:
PowerShell, Veeam Backup and Replication, Azure, MDR/EDR management, MFA implementations Preferred: Prior Project Management and Change Management experience
Note:
· This position is required to take a rotating on call assignment, as the airport operates 24/7.
Technology, Systems and Software Knowledge required to perform this role:
Advance knowledge of all related computer and software applications, such as word processing and spreadsheets.
Advanced knowledge of VMware, EMC Storage, Veeam
Advanced knowledge of Cisco Switches, Palo Alto Firewalls
Advanced knowledge of Windows Server, Active Directory, DNS/DHCP, TCPIP

Salary : $31 - $47
