ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Lead Generation and Prospecting
- Identify and generate leads through research, networking, and outbound calls with existing customer base and leads provided by the business development team.
- Use various sales tools and techniques to engage potential customers and set up meetings (tradeshows, networking events, etc.)
Sales Process Management
- Provide strategy and input to the new business development sales process from prospecting to closure, including lead qualification, needs analysis, solution presentation, negotiation, and closing.
- Maintain accurate records of all sales activities and customer interactions in the CRM system.
- Contribute to new business development processes by following up with leads and maintaining regular customized communication to move them through the sales pipeline.
- Provide input for the annual sales plan, including objectives for each product line.
- Assist in development of sales presentations
Customer Relationship Management
- Build and maintain strong relationships with customers by providing excellent customer service and addressing their needs and concerns.
- Understand customer requirements and tailor product or service offerings to meet their specific needs.
- Provide detailed, accurate, & timely information to customers regarding their inquiries relating to expediting, scheduled shipping dates, pricing, availability, order processing & credit processing.
- Proactively alert the customer of any issues (delivery, quality, cost, etc.) and propose solutions where possible. Develops deep relationships with new and current key clients
Collaboration and Coordination
- Collaborate with the business development team, product management, marketing department, and other stakeholders to align inside sales strategies with overall business objectives and make necessary recommendations as applicable.
- Provide feedback to the product and marketing teams on the effectiveness of product features and/or marketing campaigns and suggest improvements.
- Coordinate with internal departments such as product management, purchasing, engineering, or operations to ensure seamless delivery of customer quotes and/or orders.
Continuous Learning and Development
- Stay updated on industry trends, market conditions, and competitor activities to identify growth opportunities.
- Continuously improve sales skills and product knowledge through training sessions, workshops, and self-study.
Customer Service Leading and Mentoring
- Co-develop and modify Customer Service processes and procedures with Product Management related to product launches, feature releases, and necessary changes to meet business objectives.
Events and Marketing
- Co-develop, coordinate, participate, and execute sales and marketing events, including but not limited to trade shows or industry events.
- Co-develop event concepts, timelines, and budgets, ensuring alignment with organizational goals.
- Co-manage, participate, and execute all logistical aspects of events, including venue selection, vendor coordination, volunteer management, and on-site event execution.
- Co-manage the oversight of event promotion and marketing efforts to maximize attendance and engagement.
- Provide strategic evaluation regarding event outcomes and provide detailed reports and recommendations for future events
QUALIFICATIONS and SKILLS
- Engineering, marketing or business or similar experience is preferred.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, Salesforce, HubSpot or other CRM is preferable.
- Demonstrated ability to interact with all levels in the organization, including ability to provide counsel to senior decision makers.
- Excellent interpersonal skills including verbal and written communication skills.
- Effective time management skills.
- Effective prioritization and problem-solving skills.
- Must be extremely organized and can multitask multiple projects.
- Ability to write and speak effectively with people internal and external to the company.
- Proven sales success and contributions in prior roles.
- Willingness to travel to meet clients, attend industry trade shows, and other as needed.
- Strong negotiation skills.
- Mechanical and/or Electrical technical depth is necessary to succeed in this role.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor’s or associate degree in business, sales, marketing, engineering, or equivalent experience. A bachelor’s degree preferred.
- Mechanical or Electrical engineering background is a plus.
- Minimum of 3 years of technical experience in a manufacturing environment, with some experience working in the material handling or electronics industry, preferred.
- Prior sales experience, including managing customer relationships, quoting and negotiations, and delivery and quality performance, preferred.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
The Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents; to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community; to effectively present information to top management and customers.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference; to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations. Basic understanding of & ability to read performance graphs and mechanical and electrical drawing interpretation ability is a plus.
