What are the responsibilities and job description for the Festival Assistant Theater Manager position at Milwaukee Film?
Scope and Summary Milwaukee Film is seeking Assistant Theater Managers for its cinema locations during the 2025 Milwaukee Film Festival. Theater Managers are responsible for managing festival operations at their assigned venues. Main elements of the job include managing volunteers, coordinating with projection and box office, and providing excellent customer service to all festival patrons. Long hours and weekends are required.
This is a temporary contract position starting April 21 and ending May 8. This position reports to the Managing Director, with support from the Festival Logistics Manager.
Key Responsibilities
- Assisting the Theater Manager in all areas necessary to run festival operations at the venue
- Making sure every show runs smoothly
- Be the eyes and ears for the Theater Manager
- Assist with volunteer management, providing instruction and assistance as needed
- Check-in and out volunteers as needed
- Assist with managing lines for patrons
- Enforce festival policies
- Filling in for other roles when necessary
- Provide excellent customer service to all patrons
- Other duties as assigned

- Exceptional communication skills.
- Must be a big picture thinker paired with deep analytical and problem solving skills using judgment that is consistent with Milwaukee Film’s standards, practices, policies and procedures and government regulation, compliance or law.
- Ability to effectively identify and resolve problems in a timely manner and proactively develop alternative solutions.
- Must be a dynamic, resourceful, authentic, level-headed leader/professional with the confidence to express a strong point of view and provide honest feedback, and who can work collaboratively to drive the best results for, ultimately, our patrons and artists.
