Position Title: Head Varsity Volleyball Coach
Job Classification: Seasonal Employee
Reports to: Athletic Director
Position Summary:
The head coach is responsible for the entire high school volleyball program. He/she directs assistant coaches to establish team goals, individual goals, evaluating the program, determining budgetary needs, and enforcing all MLHS, LHSAGM, WIAA, NFHS rules. The head coach will assist the Athletic Director in recruiting athletes, promote volleyball within the school and community, and have knowledge of current volleyball rules and regulations.

Qualifications:
· Need to have knowledge and background in volleyball
· CPR/Frist Aid certified preferred
· Previous work experience working with high school students, coaches, and faculty
· Previous experience as a head coach or assistant high school coach
· Professional relationships and connections with the volleyball community and other organizations state-wide preferred
· Strong communication and organizational skills.
· Ability to effectively communicate and foster relationships with staff parents, and student athletes
· Ability to manage and professionally develop assistant coaches
Job Responsibilities:
Coaches during practices and games
o Conducts daily practice sessions for his/her team.
o Attends all scheduled games for his/her team and coaches the assigned team.
Organization of the program
o Recruits students for participation within MLHS guidelines
o Assists the Athletic Director in conducting orientation meetings at feeder schools in conjunction with other coaches.
o Establishes season goals and evaluates the season in conjunction with the Athletic Director.
o Conducts organizational meetings with athletes.
o Establishes practice times for his/her team in conjunction with the Athletic Director
o Establishes season rules in conjunction with the Athletic Director
Scheduling
o Assists the Athletic Director in establishing non-conference schedules and any
sub-varsity schedules necessary.
o Determines transportation needs for his/her assigned team in accordance
with existing policy and submits properly completed forms to the Athletic Director.
Maintains a safe environment during practices and games
o Make certain there is always a first aid kit available.
o Establish rules of safety for practices and games in conjunction with the athletic director.
o Supervises the locker room before and after practice.
o Prepares accident reports and submits them to the proper authorities
o Keeps emergency notification records for all athletes readily available and notifies the proper individuals in case of accident or injury to an athlete.
o Coaches must ride with athletes on the bus to and from athletics contests.
Supplies and Equipment
o Assists the athletic director to issue and collect all uniforms and equipment.
o Store all uniforms and equipment securely during the season.
o Requests the purchase of supplies and equipment to the Athletic Director
Forms Management
o Makes certain that all prospective athletes have completed the appropriate forms and forwards them to the Athletic Director
o Maintains appropriate individual records for athletes.
o Complete and forward all entry forms by the due date.
o Submits all required forms to the proper authorities.
Rules
o Is knowledgeable and enforces all conference, MLHS, LHSAGM, WIAA, NHFS rules.
o Is knowledgeable and enforces all current rules in the sport.
o Attend clinics periodically to upgrade knowledge.
