Job Summary

The Recreation Manager - Projects & Initiatives (Coordinator II) assists with the management of internal planning and program compliance efforts. Primary responsibilities include improving operational efficiencies, managing projects and initiatives, partnership and fund development, and volunteer management.

The ideal candidate can manage multiple projects simultaneously, work with multiple employee groups, and has substantial experience completing high level analyses and reports.

Salary Range: $79,127 - $114,078

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree required from an accredited college or university in Business Administration, Public Administration, Nonprofit Management, or related field. Master's degree preferred.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of increasingly responsible, full-time experience managing complex business operations, projects, and initiatives.
  • Experience working in municipal government is preferred.
  • Project management credentials preferred.
  • Certified Park and Recreation Professional (CPRP) preferred.
Responsibilities
  • Provide support to the Coordinator of Program Compliance including assisting with the department's accreditation efforts.
  • Provide guidance and supervision to subordinates to ensure professional growth and fulfillment of job duties and responsibilities.
  • Assist in the development of operational guidelines and communication systems, including department policies, procedure manuals, and business plans.
  • Identify ways to improve/enhance internal processes and assist with the development of processes/systems to improve efficiencies.
  • Oversee the department's strategic planning efforts.
  • Oversee the department's Systematic Evaluation Program (data collection, analysis, and reporting).
  • Oversee the departments' Employee Training Program (Full- and Part-time).
  • Identify and cultivate strategic partnerships with key stakeholders (community, government, private, and corporate), in coordination with the Recreation
  • Supervisor of DEI, to enhance the department's impact and achieve its goals.
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive plan, inclusive of a robust sponsorship program, to diversify revenue streams and ensure long-term financial sustainability.
  • Collaborate with staff managing department events, providing guidance and support to ensure cohesion, quality, and adherence to timelines.
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive department volunteer program (recruitment, training, recognition, and retention).
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for all department partnerships, grant writing, and as the liaison between the department and the District's Volunteer Coordinator.
  • Assist with department activities as needed.
  • Serve on various community or department committees as required and/or assigned.
  • Actively supports the MPS Five Priorities for Success.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
