The Milwaukee Rescue Mission’s Cross Trainers Academy (CTA) is a K4-12th grade Christian Academy in the heart of Milwaukee, serving students and families who are searching for a strong academic learning experience in a gospel-centered environment. Cross Trainers Academy is developing a pool of substitute teachers for immediate and future in-person assignment to cover both planned and unanticipated classroom teacher absences spanning K4-12th grade, including Specials/Electives. Substitute teachers play a vital role at CTA, supporting student learning on occasions when teachers are sick or absent for personal or professional reasons. Under the direction of the school administration, substitute teachers will instruct students in classrooms, as well as supervise students when in halls, cafeteria, gymnasium and on field trips.

Work Schedule:
- Approved substitute teachers are utilized for both day-to-day and long-term assignments on an as-needed basis, Monday - Friday 7:00am-3:00pm.
- Substitute teachers may be moved between assignments on given days based on school needs and/or unexpected staff absences.
- Advance notice will be given when possible, however, depending on circumstances, it may be the night before/morning of the identified need.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provide classroom instruction to students as outlined in lesson plans provided by the teacher/school
- Create a classroom that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of students
- Consistently enforce school-wide core values with an emphasis on academic development and Christ-like characteristics
- Responsible for communicating and collaborating with other staff members to ensure each scholar is making academic and social progress
- Engage students in the learning process and implement effective classroom management practices
- Maintain a neat and organized classroom environment as well as keep accurate records for the regular teacher to review upon return
- Occasional additional roles such as lunch, recess or dismissal monitor
- Use technology as needed to fulfill use of the curriculum, classroom projection system, online gradebook and attendance
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s Degree required
- School teaching/substitute teaching experience
- Ability to work effectively with diverse students and families
- Competent in the following platforms: Word, Excel, Outlook, Gmail, Google Drive
- Strong analytical, problem solving and organizational skills
- Good communication skills with students, parents and staff
- Must have the ability to arrive by 7:00am
- Reliability, dependability, and punctuality are expected
- Ability to lift up to 30lbs
- Be in agreement with and subscribe to the Milwaukee Rescue Mission’s Statement of Faith and Statement of Biblical Convictions
- Be a committed follower of the Lord Jesus Christ, which is evident in personal testimony and Christian conduct
- Pass a pre-employment background check and drug test
