JOB SUMMARY
This position is intended to enhance and support the site staff to obtain accurate insurance information. Responsible for performing the appropriate procedures to verify patient eligibility, coordinate benefits, determine patient coverage/responsibility for services and assists patients with the Medicaid application process. Position partners with the patient liaisons and clinical care team to ensure a seamless experience for patients across the entire continuum of their treatment.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Benefits Specialist Lead will vet information entered into the EMR for accuracy, identify training needs, assist office staff with questions, assist with Medicaid applications, and be present onsite a minimum of 1 day per week per site for support. Must work directly with staff to improve data collection and quickly identify copays, coinsurance and deductibles.
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Qualifications:
- 3-5 years related experience in patient registration and insurance verification
- Possess a thorough understanding of AHCCCS, and have worked closely with insurance claims representatives in resolving claim issue
- Knowledgeable in AHCCCS, Medicaid, CMS Guidelines
- Understand Medicaid Application Process to acquire eligibility
- Computer Skills- KIPU (EMR), HEA, APEP and MS Office (Excel, Word, Outlook) to write and update notes and generate reports
- Excellent Interpersonal and problem-solving skills
