Job Purpose: Helps patients and providers by providing clinical information, services and assistance. Serves patients by greeting and helping them in a professional and courteous manner; scheduling appointments; maintaining records and accounts. Front Desk Coordinators must interact smoothly with the back-office personnel as well.

- Verifies patient information by interviewing patient; recording medical history, and confirming purpose of visit.
- Secures patient information and maintains patient confidence by completing and safeguarding medical records; completing diagnostic coding and procedure coding; keeping patient information confidential.
- Counsels patients by transmitting physician's orders and questions about treatment and medication instructions.
- Reviews, completes and submits refill requests.
- Maintains safe, secure, and healthy work environment by establishing and following standards and procedures; complying with legal regulations.
- Keeps supplies and medications ready by inventorying stock.
- Serves and protects the practice by adhering to professional standards, policies and procedures, federal, state, and local requirements.
- Administer Mental Health Status
- Administer Mental Health Questionnaire
- Promptly capture accurate and detailed documentation of the patient's encounter.
- Input gathered data into the electronic health record following the instructions of the healthcare provider.
- Assist the provider in navigating the electronic health record.
- Assist in responding to various messages as directed and instructed by the provider.
- The Medical Assistant is NOT permitted to make independent decisions.
- The Medical Assistant cannot develop or provider treatment plans, orders, or send prescriptions.

- Greet patients and visitors in a courteous and friendly manner, in person or on the telephone; answering or referring inquiries.
- Optimizes patients' satisfaction, provider time, and treatment room utilization by scheduling appointments in person.
- Keeps patient appointments on schedule by notifying provider of patient's arrival.
- Comforts patients by anticipating patients' anxieties; answering patients' questions; maintaining organized the reception and waiting area at all times.
- Protects patients' rights by maintaining confidentiality of personal and financial information.
- Ensures availability of treatment information by filing and retrieving patient records.
- Maintains patient accounts by obtaining, recording, and updating personal and financial information.
- Obtains revenue by recording and updating financial information; recording and collecting patient charges; controlling credit extended to patients.
- Maintains operations by following policies and procedures; reporting needed changes.
- Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
