Mindful Communication Group is seeking a Pediatric Speech-Language Pathology Assistant (SLPA) to join our growing practice, providing outpatient speech therapy support services to pediatric clients in our Newport News clinic. We are looking for an SLPA who can work in the clinic during both daytime and evening hours. This position offers the flexibility of a PRN schedule with the opportunity to build your caseload over time.
As an Outpatient SLPA, you will work under the supervision of a licensed Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) to implement therapy plans, document client progress, and collaborate with parents/caregivers to support therapy goals. You will be part of a multidisciplinary team, working alongside SLPs and Mental Health professionals to provide holistic, client-centered care. Responsibilities
As a Pediatric Speech-Language Pathology Assistant (SLPA) at Mindful Communication Group, you will:
- Implement individualized treatment plans developed by the supervising SLP for pediatric clients.
- Provide therapy for a variety of pediatric speech and language disorders, including:
- Speech sound disorders (e.g., articulation, phonological delays, childhood apraxia of speech).
- Receptive and expressive language delays.
- Social communication and pragmatic language disorders.
- Fluency and voice disorders.
- Conduct one-on-one and small group therapy sessions in person at our Newport News clinic.
- Work under the supervision of a licensed SLP, following the outlined therapy plans and guidance.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Communication Sciences and Disorders or a related field (required).
- Certification as a Speech-Language Pathology Assistant or eligibility for certification.
- Experience working with pediatric populations (preferred).
- Strong communication skills.
