Position Overview:
We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Early Preschool Teacher to join our team. The ideal candidate will be a caring, empathetic, and skilled professional who can create a classroom environment that fosters mental health awareness, emotional development, and positive relationships to encourage positive learning in development. This teacher will work closely with children to develop foundational social-emotional skills and utilize the Frog Street curriculum as a framework to foster cognitive and emotional development.
Key Responsibilities:
Classroom Management & Instruction:
- Implement the Frog Street curriculum with fidelity, ensuring that activities are developmentally appropriate for young children, fostering social-emotional learning (SEL) and cognitive development.
- Create a safe, inclusive, and positive classroom environment where children feel secure and supported.
- Develop and implement lesson plans that encourage social interaction, emotional regulation, and problem-solving skills.
- Create a classroom culture where children feel emotionally safe, respected, and encouraged to express their feelings.
Assess and Track Development:
- Regularly observe and document children's social-emotional and cognitive development.
- Use observations to guide instruction and offer individualized support.
- Prepare reports and assessments for parents and guardians as needed.
- Regularly observe, assess, and document children’s progress in developmental domains, focusing on social-emotional growth and behavioral milestones.
- Use assessments to adjust teaching strategies and interventions to meet the diverse needs of children in the classroom.
Collaboration & Communication:
- Work closely with other teachers, mental health professionals, and staff to provide a holistic approach to child development.
- Maintain open and positive communication with parents regarding their child’s progress, emotional development, and any concerns.
- Attend and contribute to regular staff meetings, professional development opportunities, and team-building activities.
Compliance & Safety:
- Adhere to all daycare policies, state regulations, and licensing requirements regarding child care, safety, and confidentiality.
- Ensure a clean, organized, and safe classroom environment that aligns with health and safety standards.
Skills:
- Strong understanding of child development, particularly in the areas of social-emotional growth.
- Ability to manage a classroom with warmth, structure, and consistency.
- Excellent communication skills with children, parents, and colleagues.
- Ability to recognize and address the mental health needs of young children in a sensitive, proactive manner.
- Strong understanding of child development, particularly in the early preschool years.
- Ability to recognize and respond to children’s emotional needs using empathy, patience, and appropriate strategies.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Strong collaboration skills and the ability to work effectively within a team environment.
Other Requirements:
- Current CPR and First Aid certification.
- Background check and clearance to work with children.
