Duties & Responsibilities
- Collaborate with Engineering and non-engineering team members to establish design requirements.
- Use creativity and engineering principles to design custom components and integrate with off-the-shelf components.
- Utilize knowledge of mechanics, fluid flow, and materials to design effective product functions.
- Estimating and contributing information for estimating project budgets.
- Coordinate with test lab to establish testing protocols.
- Prepare technical presentations, reports and other design documentation.
- Utilize engineering experience and technical investigation skills to determine the root cause of device failures.
- Provide technical and procedural guidance to less experienced staff.
- All other duties as assigned.
- BS-Engineering or similar 4-yr technical degree or equivalent experience.
- Technical skills utilize principles of mechanics, fluid flow, and materials.
- Experience working with the design of plastic parts for machining and injection molding.
- Experience with designing different types of prototyping and manufacturing.
- Familiar with GD&T standards.
- Experience with PLM software; Arena is a plus.
- Experience with production environments and able to collaborate with productions staff to develop manufacturing solutions.
- Experience with project management and the product development cycle.
- Experience with manufacturing test fixtures and end-of-line testing.
- PCBA integration into handheld or controller-based devices is a plus.
- Familiar with quick turn parts and interacting with suppliers for DFM.
