Job Description: After-School Teacher
Position Overview: The After-School Teacher is responsible for creating a safe, engaging, and supportive environment for students in an after-school program. This role involves facilitating educational and recreational activities, supervising students, and fostering positive relationships that promote learning, growth, and fun.
Key Responsibilities:
- Program Delivery:
- Plan and implement educational, recreational, and enrichment activities that align with program goals.
- Support students in completing homework and assignments, providing assistance as needed.
- Foster creativity and curiosity through interactive lessons, arts, crafts, and other activities.
- Supervision and Safety:
- Monitor and ensure the safety and well-being of all students during program hours.
- Maintain a structured and orderly environment while managing student behavior positively.
- Follow all safety procedures and respond promptly to emergencies or incidents.
- Student Engagement:
- Build positive relationships with students, encouraging participation and teamwork.
- Recognize and celebrate student achievements to boost confidence and self-esteem.
- Adapt activities to meet the diverse needs, interests, and abilities of students.
- Communication:
- Collaborate with parents, guardians, and school staff to support student development.
- Maintain clear and professional communication regarding program updates and student progress.
- Provide feedback to supervisors about program effectiveness and student needs.
- Administrative Duties:
- Take attendance, maintain accurate records, and complete reports as required.
- Set up and clean activity spaces before and after use.
- Adhere to organizational policies and procedures, including confidentiality and conduct guidelines.
- Transportation pickup for school agers (Driving daycare bus)
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent (required); CDA Credentials
- Previous experience working with children in an educational, recreational, or childcare setting.
- Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to manage groups effectively and handle challenging behaviors constructively.
- CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain), background check, negative tb testing, physical heath check.
