Summary
The Payroll & Benefits Specialist oversees payroll, benefits, and HRIS administration to ensure accurate wage, tax, and benefits processing. This role involves implementing and monitoring payroll systems, conducting audits, and providing expert guidance. Collaboration with the HR team is key to delivering exceptional service to employees.
Payroll Administration
Process bi-weekly and monthly payroll, resolving discrepancies and making adjustments as needed.
Audit and reconcile payroll and benefit data regularly, ensuring compliance with company, state, and federal regulations.
Manage employee records and process new hires, terminations, pay changes, and other payroll-related updates.
Address payroll-related inquiries and educate employees on payroll laws, policies, and procedures.
Complete year-end processes, including preparing W-2s and ensuring timely reporting to tax authorities.
Benefits Administration
Manage benefits enrollment, eligibility tracking, and invoice processing.
Conduct new employee orientation, explaining payroll and benefits details.
Support open enrollment by creating communication materials and updating benefit providers.
Collaborate with HR leadership to evaluate and improve benefit programs and policies.
Assist employees with leave of absence procedures and ensure compliance with applicable laws.
Operational Support
Maintain knowledge of payroll and benefit laws and policies, ensuring compliance.
Generate reports and provide data for audits and regulatory agencies.
Act as the UKG report expert, producing statistical summaries and special reports.
Occasionally assist with HR tasks as needed.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Experience
Bachelor’s degree with 5 years of relevant experience.
Proficiency in payroll, benefits administration, HRIS systems, and compliance.
Expertise in software applications, including UKG / UltiPro, payroll systems, and Microsoft Office.
Exceptional analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
Strong attention to detail with the ability to meet tight deadlines.
