Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Shift Leader to oversee daily operations and ensure a positive experience for children in our care. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills, a passion for childhood development, and the ability to manage a team effectively. This role is essential for maintaining a safe, engaging, and nurturing environment for children while supporting staff in their duties.
Duties
- Supervise and support staff members in their daily responsibilities to ensure high-quality childcare services.
- Implement and enforce classroom management techniques to maintain a positive atmosphere.
- Develop and lead engaging activities that promote childhood development and learning.
- Manage behavior effectively, addressing any issues promptly and professionally.
- Ensure the safety and well-being of all children in the program, including administering first aid when necessary.
- Communicate regularly with parents regarding their children's progress and any concerns that may arise.
- Assist in training new staff members on best practices in childcare and program policies.
- Collaborate with team members to create a cohesive environment that fosters teamwork and cooperation.
Requirements
- Experience working with children in various settings such as daycare, camp, or sports coaching is preferred.
- Strong classroom management skills to maintain order and engagement during activities.
- Knowledge of childhood development principles to support age-appropriate learning experiences.
- Familiarity with behavior management techniques to address challenges effectively.
- First aid certification is a plus; willingness to obtain certification if not already held.
- Excellent communication skills to interact with children, parents, and staff members positively.
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team while also demonstrating initiative when needed.
- Previous experience in babysitting or similar roles will be considered an asset.
