PURPOSE OF THE JOB: Under the direction and guidance of the Manager, Application Engineering this role performs routine assignments in support of the sales efforts . Using preestablished procedures this role prepares sales proposal used for generating viable solutions to customers. This role interfaces with both internal/external customers in order to understand the issues at hand and generate solutions.

- Prepare engineering proposals according to the prescribed format and other products that augment the product line. An emphasis on schedule, accuracy and completeness is critical.
- Participate in creating an "As Sold” document for sold proposals in preparation to allow the project to be properly entered in the business system by Project Management.
- Utilizing existing proposal templates, and standardized product descriptions, prepare effective solution-oriented proposals.
- Follow up on completed proposals to keep track of project status, purchase dates, etc. Requote as needed.
- Visit customer sites to assist in gathering data and/or presentation of the product when required or requested.
- Keep up to date with developments in the industry.
- Assist in the collection of information for the product line database.
- When required assist in training of new employees.
- Prepare price calculations.
- Perform bid sign off.
- Assist the Account Manager during technical and final discussions with the customer.
- Assist the Account Manager with the preparation of the project hand-over documents for sold proposal before hand off the project to Project Management.
- Administer customers, activities, inquiries and quotations in sales data base.
- Assist the field sales force for technical presentations.
- Attend startups/shutdowns and trial work at customer facilities
- Works closely with Sales, Engineering, Procurement, Project Management and Field Service.
- Works with the customer and consultants as needed.
Position Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree (B. S.) in Mechanical, Chemical or Controls Engineering from four-year College or university; and/or three year design experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Basic knowledge of engineering calculations
- Computer skills (e-mail, word processing, spreadsheets, presentation graphics, and business systems).
- Strong organization skills and capability to handle multiple and changing priorities.
- Overnight travel in different regions may be required.
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit; use hands and fingers; reach with hands and arms; and talk and hear.
- The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, and climb or balance, climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. Includes long periods of standing, and movement through shops and field environments.
