SQL Server DBA (Sybase)

Job Title: Sybase and SQL Server DBA

Location: Lansing, Michigan, Hybrid - Onsite 2 days per week

Overview

We are seeking a skilled DBA with strong troubleshooting abilities to join our team. This position offers the potential for full-time employment, though contract roles are also welcome. The role involves maintaining a predominantly Sybase environment, while supporting SQL Server systems and participating in a migration from Sybase to SQL Server. The candidate must be experienced in formal change control environments and Unix systems.

Key Responsibilities

• Support Sybase ASE 15.7 environments and help with migration to SQL Server.
• Maintain SQL Server environments, handling database administration tasks.
• Assist with after-hours implementations and weekly data fixes.
• Manage Disaster Recovery and clustering in development, test, and production.
  
  

Requirements

• Experience with Sybase ASE 15.7 in Unix environments, particularly with CRON jobs.
• Knowledge of SQL Server, including experience with Windows Servers and clusters.
• Familiarity with both local and Azure-hosted SQL Server environments.
• Desired: Experience with Sybase-to-SQL migration.
  
  

Work Conditions

• 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday with two onsite days.
• Occasional weekend work and on-call rotation required.
