This position is primarily responsible for set up and operation of CNC mills and lathes in order to produce component parts that require close tolerances. Set-ups include tooling and fixturing for first part run off and inspection. Machine operating requires the ability to make machine offset adjustments, tool changes and troubleshooting to maintain a quality part. Position may also responsible for performing secondary operation such as deburring of parts. Adherence to safety, housekeeping and quality standards as they relate to the production and company’s objective is required. In addition, this position is responsible for maintaining production goals through productivity targets and cost containment by eliminating waste.

- Salary is $ 23.92/hr
- Operates CNC lathes/mills and performs gauging and visual inspection of parts and washes and prepares for shipment.
- Performs set-ups, including checking parts using CMM, contour reader
- Makes adjustments and offsets on the machines, including tool changes using power, air, and hand tools.
- May perform secondary operations such as assembly or deburring.
- Performs yearly validation of machines
- Performs preventative maintenance activates on the machines including lubrication and maintaining coolant/oil levels
- Completes and maintains paperwork
Knowledge, skills and abilities required:
- Ability to operate CNC equipment including lathes, mills, grinders, or EDM.
- Proven ability to read and understand G and M codes and their functions
- Proven ability to read and understand drawings, work instructions and test procedures
- Proven ability to understand standard units of measure and metric system
- Proven ability to set-up and interpret results of various measuring devices
- Proven ability to understand and operate complex machines such as optical comparator, profilometer, coordinate measuring machines, calipers, contor reader, micrometer, and others as needed
- Proven ability to perform lockout/ tag-out
- Proven ability to operate a pallet jack
- Operate at a level that meets or exceeds quality and productivity standards for the work area
- Ability to occasionally lift, carry, push and pull up to 50 pounds without assistance, and up to 100lbs infrequently with assistance
- Ability to wear safety glasses ANSI Z87 approved, steel toe shoes and other PPE as required
- Ability to work with limited supervison
- Demonstrate positive attitude and willingness to follow directions.
Education and experience required:
- High School diploma
- Minimum of 1 year experience or completed a minimum 240 hour certification program in Machine Tool Technology, Precision Machining, CNC, or related field.
Preferred:
- Associates Degree in Machine Tool Technology or related field
- Minimum of 6 months previous manufacturing or related experience
The successful candidate is expected to meet all criteria necessary to progress through all levels of the Machine Operator progression program. Starting wage grade for this position will be determined by experience and relevant course work.
